Spirit Mountain
Ski runs in winter, an adventure park all summer.
Spirit Mountain is Duluth’s ski-and-adventure hill, overlooking the St. Louis River just southwest of downtown. In winter it’s downhill skiing and snowboarding; in summer it’s an alpine coaster, mountain-bike trails, zip lines and a timber-flyer. Either way, staying with us keeps the lift ticket affordable.
Winter
Spirit Mountain has runs for every level, terrain features, and night skiing under the lights, with the harbor glittering below. It’s a full downhill hill inside city limits — a rarity — so you can ski a real mountain and still be back at the hostel sauna by evening.
Summer
When the snow melts, the mountain reopens as an adventure park: the Timber Twister alpine coaster, a mountain-bike park served by lift and gravity trails, zip lines and an aerial adventure course. It’s a great half-day for families and adrenaline-seekers alike.
